Posted on August 16, 2019 by edllcblog

Celebrity and high-end clothing fashion brands are usually synonymous. Singers, Actors, Sportsman, Stage Artists are pushing oxygen in top brands by wearing and endorsing them on red carpet, haute couture events, award shows, sporting events and many other places.

Although, you don’t have to splurge like these celebrities to get hold of these fashion brands, knowing their fashion style can as a fashionista will make you stand out from others. Also, you are not supposed to emulate the fashion style of every celebrity. Fashion is a highly personal thing and it needs to remain like this forever for the sake of creative personal expression.

With that said, we have listed down some of the top clothing brands that are almost worshipped by celebrities.

Here we go.

1.    Adidas

By collaborating with such names as Stella McCartney, Jeremy Scott, Pharrell Williams, Selena Gomez or Rita Ora, the sports brand has conquered the fashion stage. We have already seen Rihanna, Kylie Jenner and Beyoncé wear beautiful sweatshirts and t-shirts crafted by professional embroidery digitizers.

While Phoebe Philo, Jude Law, Cara Delevingne, Marc Jacobs, Kanye West, Sky Ferreira, Lorde and Taylor Swift opted for the indestructible Stan Smith. In the genre of streetwear, Puma and Nike are also snatching from the people – especially in hip hop – as the Converse (adored by rockers).

2.    Chanel

This brand is loved by celebrities and general public alike. Celebrities like Beyoncé, Blake Lively, Cameron Diaz, Celine Dion, Gwen Stefani, Justin Timberlake, Kate Hudson, Kate Moss, Kristen Stewart, Mariah Carey and many others have been seen wearing this brand on important occasions. The haute-couture brand has graciously served top celebrities for their weddings.

For example, they topped the fashion game when they designed the beautiful pink dress for Lily-Rose Depp, Johnny Depp’s daughter, in 2017.

When it comes to red carpet events, Karl Lagerfeld’s Coco Chanel hits the mark, every time. Coco Chanel’s is credited for rediscovering the way women dress. Their monochromic tweeds, pearls, jersey stripes, and quilted handbags are still calling the shots in the fashion industry.

3.    Gap

The American casual brand sign is very appreciated and worn by the Hollywood stars. Gap really knows how to digitize a logo professionally and seamlessly print it on t-shits and hoodies to make them look apart.

Sharon Stone made a splash in 1996 by wearing a turtleneck from the brand at the Oscars. Two years later, she will reiterate the audacity by choosing a white shirt of the chain for the same ceremony. Michelle Obama is also often seen in Gap’s tops, dresses or basic vests. And Jessica Alba loves their affordable and simple clothes, both for her and her daughter.

Gap’s celebrity following has not skipped a generation and they know it. To show this to the world, they developed a “Generation Gap” video in which they paid homage to celebrities who have promoted the brand in the past. The twist: They featured these celebrities’ offspring in the video to show how the brand’s love translated down to the next generation.

4.    H & M

Beyoncé, Lana Del Rey, Katy Perry and Madonna among others posed for the Swedish company. Many rich and famous do not hesitate to shop at the giants of the cheap and fashionable.

In 2011, Michelle Obama wore the American Label to unleashed passions in a retro dress polka dots at $34 during a TV show on NBC. She said she doesn’t think much about the choice of dress, but it is hard to believe when she wears something like this by H & M. Diane Kruger showed up with her boyfriend Joshua Jackson on Coachella Music Festival in Thermal, California in 2013. German Actress wore a black and white H & M graphic t-shirt to distract his boyfriend and shock fans.

Kirsten Dunst often uses crazy pieces like a colorful flowered sweater for a public outing. And Emily Ratajkowski put Instagram in turmoil in a beige leather dress from the Swedes. Not to mention the collaborations with names like Balmain or Isabel Marant which provoke as much the desire among the celebrities as with us.

5.    Zara

Fans die to get their hands on Zara’s every new high street fashion product. So is the case with celebrities.

Kim Kardashian does not hesitate to mix blazer Zara and Hermes Birkin bag (she is still a star show off, so do not abuse the high-street). Olivia Palermo has in her closets several pieces of the Spanish brand.

The brand has its fair share of popularity among many other popular personalities: Claudia Schiffer, Blake Lively (who loves Zara shoes), Amy Poelher and Kate Middleton, who has already been seen with several dresses and a necklace costing the modest sum of $ 22.

Emily Ratajkowski chose Zara’s $250 worth mustard yellow suit, instead of the traditional white dress, for her special day. This not only shows her no-fuss approach for a wedding day but also shows her love for the brand.

6.    Calvin Klein

If the designer’s dresses worn by Ashley Olsen, Eva Mendes, Naomi Watts, Fergie, Kate Bosworth, Sienna Miller, Lindsay Lohan, Halle Berry or Julianne Moore the brand is definitely worth consideration by you. Their under garments were seen on the Kendall Jenner, Ciara, Gigi Hadid, FKA Twigs, and Justin Bieber.

The “Sex and the City” star Cynthia Nixon wore Calvin Klein to attend White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington DC. The dress, a minimalistic off-the-shoulder taupe gown, is one of the unique products by the brand.

7.    Marks & Spencer

It is customary to attend especially their food department for vinegar chips and cookies. But the clothes offered by the English brand are much less “granny” than we think. Alexa Chung, just like Olivia Palermo, seems like a regular customer, never separated from her 70s beige suede skirt.

Kate Middleton also found high-heeled shoes from Marks and Spencer that quickly sold out after she sublimely wore them. If you go to England, take a tour at Reiss, Whistles and Hobbs, three accessible brands that are also part of the timeless wardrobe of the young duchess.

8.    Reformation

This eco-label, which specializes in bohemian dresses, sexy crop tops and printed skirts, is one of the most cherished by fashion stars. Karlie Kloss, Taylor Swift, Vanessa Hudgens, Bella Hadid, Rihanna, Emily Ratajkowski, and Hailey Baldwin are crazy about it.

And for about 100 dollars, this is where we find the perfect total look to go to the Coachella festival or the wedding of a friend. The closest competitor, Free People label, has been able to successfully grab the similar celebrities like Taylor swift.

So, here is the list. These clothing brands are much loved by celebrities. Yes, they may be pricey than other brands but they totally worth the cost.

Screen Printing Made Simple: A Guide to Screen Printing Problems, Solutions, Pros and Cons– Part II

Posted on August 8, 2019 by edllcblog

As a regular reader of excellent digitizing blog, you might recall our last week’s blog about the popular screen printing technique. If you are an apparel decorator, t-shirt printer and marketer, you can’t afford to miss that one.

In that post, we discussed in length about screen printing process, equipment required and elaborated simple ways to complete a basic screen printing job.

If you haven’t had a chance to go through that blog, I would highly recommend you to check that out here first because we are diving in deep sea of details of screen printing now.

Ok. So, we are done with the basics.

Time for some advanced details about the printing process. Let us now discuss common screen printing issues and their possible solutions. The later part of this blog will cover Pros and Cons of this technique.

As a prelude, a plethora of problems that can arise while you execute the printing process. The number problems really depend on competence of person doing the jobs as well as the quality and quantity of products and equipment used in the process.

All right, so without any further do, let’s get the ball rolling.

1.    Image Bleeding

Image Bleeding refers to the extra amount of ink that bleeds through the screen while you rub it with a squeegee. Possible reasons can be traced back to the angle of squeegee. As a general rule, 45-degree angle is required with a gentle amount of pressure.

You might have also make a mistake in making the ink. So do a quality check of ink for its viscosity. Your previous experience will answer you about what is the right ink mixture.

Also, sometimes, due to the excess ink, the squeegee supplies extra amount of ink to the substrate. This problem can be avoided easily. Use the small amount of ink and apply squeegee multiple times with very soft hands to get your desired output.

Experts say that if you don’t control the image bleeding, even a highly professional logo digitizing work, for example, will be destroyed in seconds.

If nothing works, you have to create a new screen from the scratch. Apologies, there is no way out of this.

2.    White Ink Problem

Most people face problems with white inks (both Textprint Mono and Plastisol ) on dark fabrics.  They are very pasty, after having mixed well they seem even more dense and difficult to apply on the screen.

The effect obtained after 3/4 squeegee passes is a fairly definite and covering as well as rough. Impression with an uneven crust in ink, while Plastisol ink is softer but less supported and drools more.

There is no formula for the proportions of dilution: it is necessary to verify by tests that the ink is applied correctly under the action of the doctor blade. As white inks on a dark support, it is impossible to obtain a perfect coverage with a single passage of doctor blade.

For a white ink on a dark support, it is impossible to obtain a perfect coverage with a single passage of doctor blade. It is necessary to run the squeegee two or three times, lift the screen, partially dry the ink with a heat gun or an intermediate flasher, then iron with the squeegee.

The underlying ink layer will prevent the second layer of ink from penetrating the fabric and you will get good coverage. So, next time you digitize logo and print it on a white ink, you know what to do.

3.    Abandoned Ink

This problem occurs when the screen printing inks are stored in rooms with extreme temperatures that are too hot or too cold: optimal storage conditions allow for storage in cool, low humidity and far from any light source of direct heat.

A temperature of 24 degrees does not compromise the stability and integrity of the product, even if it is an ink with water, provided that the pot is perfectly closed.

The water products are formulated with a percentage of additive preventing the formation of algae, bacteria and therefore mold: even if the temperature has created the conditions necessary for the formation of a small amount of mold, for example simply mix the contents of the pot thoroughly to restore the ideal conditions of the product.

Even if, at the opening of the jar, there is a light film above the ink, do not worry: just mix the product well before using it without any worries.

4.    Improper Use of Squeegee

If you want your screen printing job to standout, you need to be highly skilled in using squeegee. Especially if you run a manual press, squeegee needs to be handled with care. A lot of printing professional’s is advice is to properly flood the screen before each print. This flooding process sort of create an ink surface that make the rest of the job a lot easier.

If flooding is not applied before printing, you have to make an effort with squeegee for the right print stroke to force the ink to the fabric. This is highly not recommended to save cost and time.

To deposit more ink on a print, a softer squeegee is required. Similarly, for a less deposit of ink, a harder squeegee does the work.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF SCREEN PRINTING?

  • Screen printing offers long-lasting motifs and high washing resistance of the textiles, which remain unchanged in their textile properties. In addition, screen printing is cheap in large quantities.
  • Screen-finished textiles have a high level of wash resistance with neutral color brilliance, as the textile properties of the screen printing process remain unchanged. They are durable and durable.
  • In the screen-printing process, almost all motifs can be realized and almost every color is available. The colors are full and very well opaque.
  • The screen printing process is also favorable for large runs.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF SCREEN PRINTING?

  • The price increases with the number of colors, because each ink needs an extra sieve.
  • The more colors that are included in the screen printing process, the more expensive the print becomes, as each ink has to be applied with an extra screen. This is especially expensive for small editions with very colorful motifs.

This concludes the screen printing manual. Next time you are faced with a screen printing task, do refer to this manual for great results. If done right, screen printing can create jaw-dropping print results on fabrics.

Top 5 NBA Uniforms that are Pushing the Boundaries of Fashion and Style

Posted on August 7, 2019 by edllcblog

Ever since the start of NBA, the game has not only elevated the sports industry but made its mark on the America’s fashion symbol too. The electrifying jazz engulfed around this sports is like a never-ending fever for its fans.

In 2017, NBA changed their 11-year-old apparel provider partner, Adidas, to Nike. The NBA jersey designs have gone through a complete overhaul since then. Now, NBA has replaced their old uniform editions to three new versions of uniform for each team.

The three main new editions of these uniforms, Association, Icon and Classic edition, represents Nike’s special focus on sports and athleticism. The new uniform editions have been designed to pay tribute to NBA and its franchise heritage.

Although, Nike has given a new birth to NBA uniform designs, the team jerseys have never been out of fashion league.

Throughout NBA history, teams have pushed the limits of fashion to come up with stunning jersey designs. They played around with colors, lettering, sleeve styles and extensively used embroidery digitizing to create noticeable artworks on the fabric.

Today, we have sat down to list some of the best looking NBA jerseys for the season 2018-2019. This commentary will revolve around their choice of design and why some aspects work and some don’t.

Let jump right into the discussion.

1.    Chicago Bulls

Michal Jordan’s Chicago Bulls were never out of the game, at least from the fashion’s point of view. Michael is the game’s greatest player of all times. His famous dunk in 1988 NBA slam dunk contest still resonates with game enthusiast.

During 80’s no one could come even close to Jordan. I mean, how can take the ball from a 1.98 m tall guy in red uniform and gold chains dodging the opponents like they are high school kids?

Bull’s new swag is black and it looks just fine on them.

First of all, the four red stars on the front exudes extremely patriotic feeling. They have really played well with red and blue color on the black base color. Keep in mind that designers often mess up with black base color. The double blue lines on classic round color and arms looks perfectly fine.

The only odd thing about the uniform is round strips on the short.

We wish them a good luck for their matches.

2.    Philadelphia 76ers

Phila’s jersey designs sucked until 2015, especially their drop shadow creative adventures. But, they have learned their lessons and adjusted themselves quite nicely in recent times. Previously, they used (may I say overused) the iconic blue color and rightly mixed it with red and white stripes.

This time, though, they have opted to sweatshirt-themed gray base color. Some fans are naming the new edition as “all-time favorites” and some are calling them “great pajamas”.

Honestly, they are decent looking jerseys. The bright gray color looks good with red and blue color. Again the circular star on the front chest, the color-trio on the short and stripes makes it a top jersey for 2018-2019 season. Also, you can’t help but notice Nike’s blue logo on the left.

Time for some branding lessons. If you are planning to sponsor a local basketball tournament, you can digitize logo and creatively place it on the uniform. This will boost your brand and the business multifold.

3.    Charlotte Hornets

MJ’s Charlotte Hornets have not yet seen the type of success its owner had. But the team is doing something right. They are still valued a billion-dollar team pushing Jordan’s net worth to $1.65 billion. This team has a long-lived love affair with the teal color. We saw their favorite teal color with white text and purple stripes back in the 80s.

This time they have come up with a jaw-dropping motif. Who would have thought about this one? Simply Amazing. You need to give the credit to the designer for coming up with a close to minimalist design and getting rid of too much teal on the jersey.

Also, this is the only NBA jersey that carries a jumpman logo instead of Nike. Again the teal colored silhouette looks great on the jersey as well on the short.

Wait, don’t jump to conclusions that early. The lettering replacement from Charlotte to Buzz City doesn’t go well with the overall design. The front with these ugly borders. Are you serious?

Another question that took our sleep away at Excellent digitizing: What is the point of a hidden “CHA” on the short’s right flap if nobody can see it?

4.    Portland Trail Blazers

This team is a real trailblazer in showing how to use black color with artistic appeal. The black color married with the red color creates a magical experience. This jersey is one our most favorite jersey of NBA season. Can Nike still come up with better than this masterpiece?

The black jersey with the Portland’s favorite diagonal sash is their typical design. Comparing from the previous version, though, the sash, and the wordmark has become sleeker and sexier. Talking about wordmark, the tartan texture “Rip City” has a swag of its own.

We can’t stop talking about the sash, and why should we. It is shiny as hell, separating the black color with grey, makes us jump out of our seats. All in all, a stunningly beautiful outfit.

5.    Toronto Raptors

Raptors celebrated their 20th Anniversary during the 2014-15 seasons by wearing the Purple Dino throwback.

Raptors GM Masai Ujiri said in a statement.

“We are excited to bring back a piece of team history as part of our 20th Anniversary celebration,”

The rebranding effort was not up to the mark, however. This is probably the reason why they re-designed their uniform for 2017-18 seasons. And, this time they hit the bull’s eye. They unveiled their city edition Nike Jersey on twitter. As soon as you look at this edition, you say to yourself “Boy, this is one sweet combination of white and pale yellow color.”

First things first: you have to give them the credit of choosing the white color. The jersey’s upside down V design on the shirt, NORTH grey lettering, and simple V neck makes it a safe and minimal design.

An advice for Toronto Raptors: Stick to this design, until you come up with something better in the future.

So, this is it. These are some the best NBA outfits that are pushing the boundaries of creativity. Please keep in mind, that this is a non-comprehensive list as there are more beautiful designs out there.

6 Innovative Technologies That Are Reshaping the Apparel Retail Industry

Posted on August 6, 2019 by edllcblog

What will the world be like in 20 years from now? Flying Cars, Autonomous airplanes, on-the-go digital learning, Vacations at Mars comes to mind.

Even the fashion industry is expected to witness numerous innovations as well in terms of the way it will reach us in new, innovative ways.

Technology is in its heydays. New innovation, engulfed the world, is about to take this world to new heights of convenience and the resulting prosperity.

Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality creating one-of-a-kind experience in the retail stores, Artificial intelligence is up for the task to solve over-inventory problem. We are going to discuss all this today.

If you are associated to fashion industry in any way, you have to keep abreast of these technological innovations that can impact fashion in the future.

Let us dive right into the discussion.

1.    Internet of Things (IoT)

Refrigerator, TV, cars, light bulbs, watch and kitchen appliances were things, until become intelligent using internet of things technology. This technology is disrupting the retail world and retailers are watching closely. Smart checkouts, mobile stock tracking and mobile point of sales are top in-store technologies used by UK retailers in 2017, according to Statista.

Alexa-enabled smart mirror is expected to be found in retail setups soon. The voice-activated system will follow user instruction to do research. Customers are going to love this as their go-to option for product search, trial and other stuff, smartly.

The sewing machine for industrial and individual purposes have also become smart. These machines can print smart graphics on fabrics with the assistance of professional embroidery digitizers.

2.    3D Printing

The 3D printing is literally a prelude to a huge disruption in the fashion industry, although this technology is still in its infancy stage. In simple terms, you can print a 3D fabric logo of your favorite brand.

In the not-too-distant future, though, it will give brands the opportunity to replenish the range of products in line with demand and to customize products such as toys, jewelery, games and home furnishings. Brands like Nike and Adidas already see the potential to offer their customers personalized footwear that is custom made to fit their needs and requirements.

3.    Virtual and Augmented Reality

The widespread proliferation of virtual and augmented reality has a disruptive potential; they can change the retail trade within a few years. The huge success of Pokémon Go shows how quickly Augmented Reality can become part of our everyday lives.

The smart eye glasses can capture the brand logo on the branded t-shirt of the brand. It can easily be done if you know how to digitize a logo.

So it is quite possible that in some years we will be walking through a furniture exhibition wearing data glasses. These glasses will deliver the all-important information about the armchairs and sofas displayed, put them by clicking on the eyeglass temple or by voice command in the digital shopping cart and get it delivered to your home later.

Using virtual reality, travel, sporting goods and fashion brands in particular can create an impressive experience by letting potential buyers experience a product in their environment.

For example, Tommy Hilfiger puts its customers in the shop in the front row of the fashion show with VR glasses. VR has the potential to transform boring shopping trips into colorful, adrenaline-rich experiences.

4.    Artificial Intelligence

We are creating social media posts, commenting, sharing, tweeting, watching YouTube videos, reading blogs, listening to podcasts and doing million other things in our customized digital world. It’s like we are living a completely new life in the digital world.

This is lot of information (data in digital terms) that can be used to learn current and future behaviors of online citizens. Artificial intelligence uses this data to help stakeholder make informed laser-sharp decision. Using machine learning, natural language processing other smart techniques, AI is making it easy to learn, create algorithms, anticipate and produce content.

AI has already making waves in the fashion industry. Stitch Fix, a $2 billion valued online personal styling service, used artificial intelligence to predict fashion trends that the customer actually wants to buy. Their stylist used Artificial intelligence to analyze customer data about style trends, body measurement, customer feedback, and color preferences to predict the exact fashion trends that the customer is attracted. The company then proceed to deliver these ‘in-demand’ products directly to their doorstep.

5.    BlockChain

The fashion world is still finding a way around small problems: production and selling of replica brands, products that moved through an illegal grey channel to third world countries and other such infringements.

Let me ask you something.

How would the customer ensure that a Louis Vuitton bag that they just bought is original?

There is a way around it. The customer would need all the recorded transaction spanning the complete supply chain of the product. That too with complete authenticity.  Sounds crazy, right.

This is easily possible through Blockchain technology. This technology use blocks of information which cannot be edited without verifying it to hundreds of thousands of nodes in the network. The result is a never-seen-before data authenticity.

Blockchian technology offers various benefits to fashion industry.

The resulting Increased visibility of the garment product’s lifecycle including material, vendors, labor sources, shipping and warehouse locations will create a trustworthy relationship among everyone in the supply chain model. Hence, the industry will thrive.

The decreased distance between the brand and the consumer will allow brands to deliver rich, direct and customized customer services. The derived learnings from this first-hand experience can be timely used by brands to fix problems, innovate products and cut costs.

6.    Mobile Commerce

Smartphone is not limited to making phone calls. There is a complete life inside your phone. With the launch of first iPhone in 2007 by Steve jobs, be it education, entertainment, location search, music, we now do almost everything through these small machines.

Shopping too.

Communication apps, price comparison apps, shopping apps, and digital wallets have made the entire shopping experience safe, sound and enjoyable. These cool smartphones have equipped brands to reach their customer’s palms in virtually no time. Customer love it too because it gives them the much-needed convenience. A win-win situation.

With these breakthrough technologies, Fashion industry is marching towards prosperous times. The fashion players who are awake, making used of one or more than one technology to create an unforgettable retail experience for their customers.

7.    Pen and Notebook

Healthcare professionals do a lot of writing every day. Prescription, medical condition, communication between doctor and patient and whole lot of other stuff. Even in this digital age, some pros still stick to pen and paper version of communication technique.

This product is ideal for health insurance providers and pharmaceuticals. Provide a customized good-quality pen and paper to Doctor’s and their assistants. They will be using it in and out of the hospital to provide elite exposure to your brand logo.

One interesting version of pen is a “Syringe Pen”. Yes, you read it right. It is a syringe looking pen that is enough to surprise your customers. Keep in mind that too much adventurism with doctors can go wrong because they are supposed to be mature.

Imaging your doctor holding a syringe looking red pen and writing prescription. Does it really make sense? Not much for me.

But first.

What is Screen Printing?

Screen printing is a stencil printing process. Unlike conventional stencils (e.g. paper), this printing technique can also represent very detailed independent graphics. This is power of screens in screen printing. Because the ink is pressed by the blade during the printing process.

To create such a stencil, you need a silkscreen frame, a photographic emulsion and a UV light source, as well as a graphic model, printed entirely in black on a film for insolation. The frame is then sun stroked using the created template. This finished frame having been subjected to insolation with a clear pattern then makes it possible to apply the screen printing process to different materials.

What are the Processes Involved?

1.      Design Your Artwork

So, the first process is to create your artwork. There are a number of ways depending on your style of work.

You can do this using black paint pens if this is something very abstract and unique. Here, you have the liberty to try your own designs.

You can also scan any premade artwork and work on it using photo editing software (Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop), or you can also try your hand in Graphic Designing and digitize logo for your favorite brand to print it on a t-shirt.

Whatever way you chose; you have to keep these things in mind:

  • Purpose of Print (T-shirt, Banners, etc.)
  • No of Colors (because you need a screen for each color, discussed later)
  • The Complexity of Design (Gradients, for example, make the process much more complex)
  • Available Equipment
  • Size of the Artwork

2.      Prepare the Screen

After you are done with your artwork, It is now time to prepare the screen. Before the first use, the silkscreen frame must be free of grease (no fingerprints) and dust particles, so that the photographic emulsion holds well. After unpacking the frame, it should be cleaned with degreaser, rinsed thoroughly and then dried.

The degreaser is safe and can be evacuated simply by the wastewater system. So you can wash in the bath or shower. The silkscreen frame can then be dried with a hairdryer.

In doing so, maintain a gap of about 10 cm with the screen because it may tear at high temperature. The frame can also be dried in the open air or near a radiator.

What material will you need?

Photo Emulsion: To create the stencil in the silkscreen frame.

Squeeguee: To spread the emulsion on both sides of the screen. Match the size with the size of your screen.

Dark and Dry Area: Photographic emulsion is only applied in the dark and dry room.

Yellow Light Lamp: For photo development

You must coat the frame on both sides with the photographic emulsion. For this purpose, the coating doctor is filled with photographic emulsion. Fill the photographic emulsion squeegee to half the height.

Apply the photographic emulsion passing the squeegee on both sides of the screen printing fabric. In doing so, the frame should be held at a slight angle. The lip of the coating doctor is then held on the screen, tilted towards the fabric and pulled up along the screen as soon as the emulsion touches the screen fabric on all sides.

When the coating of the frame is finished, it must be dried, e.g., using the hairdryer.

Another method is to put the frame to dry flat and in a dark place. We recommend quick drying with a hairdryer. Make sure to keep a gap of at least 10 cm with the hairdryer.

Also, be careful not to overheat the screen as it may tear. Once the frame is dry (the emulsion is no longer bright or sticky (finger test it).

We will now move to the sunstroke. Things are getting serious now.

3.      Sunstroke the Screen

Now, you will sunstroke the screen with the UV light. We do not recommend sunlight because it makes thing complicated. Use the insolation lamp here.

Position the film with the inverted pattern on the outside of the dried screen first. Glue it firmly to the frame with clear tape.

Protect the inside of the frame from the light with a piece of cardboard, newspaper, or photo card. Be sure to use the right exposure time with the corresponding watt of insolation lamp.

After sunstroke, wet the screen with water on both sides.

Ideally, give a water bath to the screen for 1 to 2 minutes. Wait 2 minutes, then rinse all emulsion residue from the stencil.

Let the screen dry down.

One last thing before printing: stick tape around all the edges of the screen so that ink does not penetrate around it while printing.

If the pattern does not develop, or only schematically or incompletely, after several minutes, it is a sign of over insulation. We will discuss the way around it in Part II of this post, so hold your horses.

If everything went well, you should have the beautiful looking screen on your hand.

Drum Rolls! It is time to PRINT.

4.    Printing

Try to go as smooth as possible during this action step. This is the final step, and you cannot afford to go wrong here. Place your substrate (t-shirt) on a flat surface, and place the cardboard backing underneath the area you want to print on.

Drop down the screen on the fabric and make sure it nicely touches the fabric. Now, slowly drop the ink on the end screen surface. Take your squeeguee and slowly move it to the other end of the surface with mild pressure on it.

As a piece of advice, use scrap paper as a substrate to get an idea of your print.

Run the squeguee up and down a couple of times so that the ink nicely rinse stencil to the fabric. Pull up the screen to get an idea of your print.

Voila, your shirt is ready to wear.

In Part II of this series, we will dive into more details about screen printing. We will talk about problems, expert advice, and also the pros and cons of the screen printing technique.

Until then.

Keep Reading to Keep Improving.

4 Branding Lessons that Fashion Entrepreneurs Can Learn from Luxury Fashion Brands.

Posted on July 31, 2019 by edllcblog

The age of disruption is pushing brands to not only stay relevant but become explosive.

Creating a high-end brand, in a competitive industry to a demanding customer, is a challenging task. Thanks to millions of dollars of investment in clothing and fashion industry, it is estimated to hit $ 475 in 2022. All the big fashion brands are vying with each other for a big slice of the piece. But, there is always a room for more.

Discussed below, are some of the branding strategies that you can apply to your own fashion label so as to elevate your brand as well as its bottom line.

1.    Exclusive Quality, Unique Products

LV, carry its legacy from its founder Louis Vuitton who had the good fortune of designing the luggage of Napoleon’s wife. LV continue to make cutting edge totes, handbags, general bags, and other accessories to date.

The brand stands on the relentless focus on product quality. It has made them stand far apart from its competitors. They sweat the small stuff in production processes. For example, Laboratory production staff open and close zippers 5,000 times as a part of quality check process.  Also, they source their main raw material, leather, from Northern Europe as they produce durable quality material.

LV’s brand is loved by their fans. So much so that they proudly wear a customized LV logo shirt outdoors. This is one of the best ways to do branding. If you wish, you can also distribute your customized logo shirt with the help of professional embroidery digitizers.

Chanel on the other hand, historically designed products that challenged the status quo. They were the one to introduce the iconic “the little black dress” which became synonymous with cocktail and evening parties.

These brave moves in the early 1920s earned them huge amounts of word of mouth – the most effective form of marketing till date.

2.    Celebrity Endorsement to Craft a Unique Brand Personality

There are multitude of way to fabricate a brand personality for fashion brands. One of them is celebrity Endorsement.

Gucci has done it style. It collaborated with Jackie Kennedy, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn to name a few. These women radiate grace and class, which spilled over to the brand as well. Continuing with this Marketing strategy, the brand now going global with a number of cult following from top celebrities. Names like Rihanna, Kristen Stewart, Salma Hayek, Kate Moos, Brad Pitt, Lil Wayne are frequently found wearing Gucci products.

Nike has left no stones unturned when it comes to celebrity endorsement. They have tracked down best athletics of every era and joined hands with them. Their execution has always been a masterclass as well.

Who can forget those groovy lines from Nike Commercials featuring Michael Jordan: “Who said man was not meant to fly”, “Maybe it’s my fault”, and “I’ve missed 9000 shots in my career…And that is why I succeed.”

3.    Singularity of Vision

Great brands are laser-sharp on their vision. From day first, in 1975, Giorgio Armani knew that their brand is built on quality, class and exclusivity. They do not seem to digress from this ever since, clearly reflected in their official vision statement below.

“The Armani Group is world renowned for its fashion and lifestyle products, with instantly recognizable aesthetics and a style that has evolved over the years to reflect the current zeitgeist and meet the needs of contemporary consumers, whilst remaining true to its DNA.”

LV, through its luxury products, positioned itself as the brand that defined the art of living. They specifically mentioned this as “Art de Vivre” (French equivalent of “Art of Living”) in their vision statement.

Lot of these brands have realized that the current generation are not only aware but emotionally attached towards environment. That is why the make sure to reflect this in their official communications. Some have even dedicated a whole webpage highlighting their Corporate Social Responsibility.

LV for example, publish a yearly CSR report which highlight the brand’s impact on people and the environment. Their CSR 2018 report, highlight the employment opportunities provided by the brand as well as their dedication towards gender equality.

This is a great way to tell their story of their vision and values both to their internal and external customers.

There is a lesson for you here. Even if you are a new entrepreneur, making a vision statement and communicating it to every employee is crucial.

To do the second part right, here is a suggestion. Create customized t-shirts with your vision statement printed with your logo on it (if you know how to digitize a logo). This will keep reminding you are your employees about why they exist.

4.    Capitalize on the Digital Technology

Instagram, Facebook, Augmented and Virtual Reality, Internet of things and Artificial intelligence, Brands have arsenal of option to join the technology bandwagon.

Excuse me. Let me correct myself here. Social Media is not even an option now. The most relevant for fashion brand is Instagram. If you are a fashion brand and cannot be easily found on Instagram, you have committed a sin.

Take a look at LV’s Instagram account. They have used the platform to tell their brand story, showcase products and their occasional innovation with their retail stores. This accentuates their unique taste towards fashion and beauty.

Tiffany & Co took its social media marketing to the next level. They didn’t put up their social media page and forget about it. Creating a social media page and updating useless content kill the whole idea of social media marketing.

You have to come up with creative marketing campaigns that successfully picks your customer’s interest and gets them talking to your brand online.

In 2015, they launched an engagement “ring finder app” campaign. Customers will use the app to choose ring style and carat weights. Then they can take a virtual selfie to put it up online. This content breathed oxygen their brand –  it reported 20% increase in sales.

The strategies mentioned above can be creatively modified and used by any fashion and non-fashion brand to ride the branding bandwagon.

Iconic Logos that Redefined The Corporate Identity World Forever

Posted on July 30, 2019 by edllcblog

Every day, somewhere around the world, a designer is working hard to design or redesign a corporate identity of a current of future brand. Many companies have redesigned their logo to refresh or change their image by focusing on the use of flat design.

Some of the companies are so famous that their fans digitize logo on their t-shirt out of their sheer love.

As aesthetics souls, we are always on the lookout of the most successful visual identity changes by industry spanning trends and styles.

1.   Apple – The Success of Flat Design

Cricket World Cup’s logo confirmed the reign of flat design. This style of design uses simple shapes, flattens the lines and plays mainly on typography. This main line of conduct is the search for simplicity among companies in their communication strategy.

Thus, since the release of the iOS7 Apple, skeumorphism (style of design using ornament, decoration, details around an original object) dear to Steve Jobs has gradually disappeared in favor of the minimalist approach to flat design in virtually every facet of the brand.

The current logo design of Apple has favored the work on sharp lines with very little detail, applying literally the famous saying “less is better”. They promote this logo whenever they get a chance. You will notice Apple employees proudly wearing customized blue t-shirt of the while apple logo, professionally done by embroidery digitizers.

2.   Google – The Birth of Tech 2.0 Sector

Google is recognized as one of the best Tech 2.0 brand identity. With regard to their much talked about logo-metamorphism, the change seems to have given way to some understanding of simplicity. Some have found that it responds perfectly to the “keep it simple” trend of the moment.

For startups, the use of graphic design is often not a priority. In fact, this kind of investment generally only happens after a certain stage of progress and therefore of success – when they have more data, time and funds to make the best decisions regarding their visual identity.

As some of the above logos show, the pale blue color, often used by startups (like IBM), was finally abandoned because it was considered too young – in favor of more dynamic colors like red, green and or deeper, more mature blues. Scripted font like sans were finally replaced by Sans-Serif, or Google-Sarif, f I may put it that way.

For a sector that prides itself on pushing industry standards further and further, it seems to be slowly falling into line. It will be interesting to see its graphical evolution in the years to come.

3.   Netflix – The Return of the Logotype

Netflix stood out in the entertainment industry.

In the same way that flat design has projected minimalism into the spotlight this year, the logo has also had its moment of glory. The icons and complicated shapes have given way to simple and elegant graphic treatments. While some companies have only made minor changes to their logo, others have used the logo to give new life to their visual identity.

It is important to note that the search for simplicity is far from easy in a logo. The resultant synthesis effort brings a lot of complexity to the graphic design. The logo of the world’s most famous company CocaCola is another perfect example.

Coke’s book keeper Frank M Robinson, was the man who came up with not only the brand name but its cursive script typeface. He was able to embed stylish font in their logo, which became the heritage of the brand since then. The result is very intelligent since it combines the modernity of design with unique historical foundations.

4.   FedEx and Southwest – Arrival of Floral Colors and Negative Space

Have you noticed the “forward-moving” arrow between E and x in Fedex logo? It was not accidental. Linder Leader and Lander Associates, deliberately tried place the right-facing arrow to communicate speed and precision of the world famous brand.

Southwest has set aside the plane for a multicolored heart to showcase their strengths and values that are expressed by what they call “a heartbeat in unison”. Soutwest, is a heartthrob airline for Americans since 1971. They happen to be #1 low-cost option with authentic fun beautifully weaved in everything they do.

They dropped the airplane icon to better illustrate their diversification into other sectors such as the automotive and hospitality industries.

From a practical point of view, the redesign of logo does not stop there. It involves many changes for each of these brands: a renewal of the dressing planes, airport counters, new tickets, a redesign of the website around the logo, the mobile application … and much more! Redesigning a brand identity – especially in the airline industry – is not an easy task.

5.   McDonald – “Go Global Act Local” design Strategy

The big “M” – the golden aches, is the most recognized brand logo of the world. Nobody though that a 1940’s famous barbecue brand would turn out to be synonymous with Food and Drink with fun.

The McDonald logo represent its architecture that is as much loved by their fans as their food. The Brand stakeholder realized that and incorporate this brand identity in almost all their outlets worldwide.

The brand logo, however, went through multiple changes to reflect the local culture while maintaining their international persona. McDonald’s logo designers added shadows, new slogans, and also played other marketing collateral.

6.   StarBucks – Unorthodox Symbols meshed Artwork

Does a mermaid have anything to do with a hot coffee? Yes, it has. Starbucks proved that by coming up with a strange looking siren (now covered with her hairs for a decent look) with her two tails pointing upward.

Yes, it might not make sense to you in logical terms. But it surely does to 500 customers daily. The brand resonates well to millions of fans around the world although there is not Starbucks written in the logo. The current artwork is the brainchild of Terry Heckler who took the inspiration of iconic two-tailed mermaid from the marine books.

This entire decade was rich in design. Many large companies took the opportunity to come up with brand identity through slight changes in their logo for some and more marked changes for others wanted to show an evolution in their development.

Yes, we love baseball. MLB broke the record of having the highest number of attendance in any sports league of the world with 69.6 million fans attendees in MLB 2018. But there are more things that we love with the ballgame. Free stuff, for example. When you combine the two, you are in heaven.

Bobbleheads are so popular for baseball games that you cannot go wrong with this figurine. This giveaway is a caricature of major players of the team. The head of the figure is attached with a spring which bobs up and down upon gentle touch.

This product is very dear among kids above 13, and rightly so. Branding is easy, as well. Choose a team that matches your corporate color, and you are good to go.

Famous stars with bobbleheads are showcased on MLB online shop: Phillies’ Bryce Harper, Yankee’s Aaron Judge, Freddie Freeman, Cody Bellingers, and many more.

So, for example, at the back of the mug, you can print coach name, roaster, player name, and historical facts to entice up the whole experience. You can place your branded written content on the back too. This is the time for you to speak to your target customers.

But, do not overcrowd the entire piece. It is irritating and kills the whole idea of promotion.

The mug is made from solid wood and ideal for both hot and cold beverages. All in all, it is a perfect item to take a sip while enjoying the game.

4.    Customized Tees and Replica Jerseys

When it comes to button-down jerseys, the New York Yankees black striped one is the most famous.

Why? The Yankees’ outfielder and rookie of the year in 2017, Aaron Judge, is often associated with this jersey design. For this reason, it carries the highest attention value. The closest variation of the jersey is worn by Chicago Cubs’ Javy Maez.

This Jersey is equally famous in boys, girls as well as kids. Choose a fabric that is moisture-wicking, extremely breathable, comfy, and stretchable to give your customers the liberty to jump around and have fun during the game. This is what they are there for, right!

The closes cousin of the jersey is everyone’s favorite, t-shirt. As a general rule, choose the round neck for boys and slim-fit V-neck for girls. As a part of your branding package, the size and design will show that you are a fashion-conscious brand. All the more reasons for more love to your brand.

A wide variety of t-shirts designs are there to pick. Here too, you can go for striped one, with colored short or long sleeves, to give it a Yankee’s theme. Try some tank tops if it doesn’t sound outrageous to you.

T-shirt is the most branding-friendly promotional item. All you have to do is digitize log and print it on the front, left or on the right with equal spacing between your brand logo and baseball team logo. On the back of the shirt, print famous player name, number or other vital details about the team of the player.

5.    Baseball Caps

What is more relevant promotional item than a cap that took its name from the game? It is almost impossible to watch the ballgame without this cap. Additionally; it is part of the official uniform worn by players with the brim pointing forward to protect the eyes from the sun.

Due to the love of the game and the players, this cap has become part of American’s fashion statement. As a promo product, this will pump up your customer as you offer this as a giveaway. Kids, boys, girls love getting their hands on a free baseball cap.

If this is not enough, you have an ample amount of opportunities to brand the cap. Smart embroidery digitzers can create the wow effect through their professional work on different parts of the cap. The front part is the most suitable part of placing your logo. On both sides of the cap, you can print MLB team’s detail and other promotional stuff, artistically.

This comprehensive list will help you capitalize on commercial opportunities during the baseball season. There are a couple of things to keep in mind, though.

Try to be creative in selecting the promotional product for your business. To start off, make sure it matches well with your brand personality. Also, combine one or two promo products. For example, caps with beach towels for a hot day match.

Enough said.

The only thing left to say is:

Play Ball!

Enjoy the rest of the games, everyone.
